Ricoh SC543 error code
Fuser overheating (detected)
Ricoh SC543 usually indicates that the fuser is overheating: the sensor measures a temperature above the permitted limit. A thermistor fault or a problem with fuser control is often responsible.
What does this error mean?
This is the counterpart of SC542: SC542 indicates insufficient temperature, while SC543 indicates overheating. Both relate to the fuser assembly, and the printer protects itself by shutting down for safety.
What can you safely try?
- 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait at least 10 minutes for the fuser to cool down, then switch it back on. Many error codes are temporary and disappear after a full power cycle.
When should you call a technician?
If the code returns, call a technician immediately and do not keep trying to use the printer. An overheating fuser is a safety risk.
Do you rent out or manage printers?
If you manage the printer at a customer’s site, you can record the fault on site in PrinterMS using QR issue reporting, and any parts used are automatically added to its service history. See printer fleet management.
