Laser scanner motor fault
HP error 52 usually indicates a fault in the laser unit’s rotating mirror motor (scanner motor): the motor does not reach or maintain the required speed.
What does this error mean?
Errors 51 and 52 concern two aspects of the same assembly: one relates to optical path detection, the other to motor speed. Both usually lead to replacement of the laser/scanner assembly if the fault is not temporary.
What can you safely try?
- 01Switch the printer off at the main power switch, wait a few minutes, then switch it back on. Some temporary faults clear this way.

If the fault recurs, call a technician to check the laser unit.
